Governments That Serve the People

A healthy government is a servant, not a master. It protects life, liberty and property, keeps its hands out of your pockets and your private life, and answers to the people who pay for it. The Living Dead Economy grows government at the people's expense. A Living Economy shrinks it back to its proper job.

Deep Dive — Governments

Government Is Meant to Protect You

Free societies are built on a simple idea: rights come from the Creator and from being human, not from the state. A government for the people keeps taxes low and honest, spends within its means, respects the constitution, and leaves families, churches, businesses and communities free to flourish. When power stays close to the people, it is easier to hold accountable.

Three principles

Limited power

Government does a few things well: defends rights, keeps the peace, enforces contracts. It does not run your life.

Honest money, low taxes

No hidden tax through inflation, no endless debt passed to children. See the Money system.

Close to the people

Local decisions, direct democracy, referendums and real transparency. Power that can be seen can be checked.

How to tell a government is for you

  • It publishes its budget and spends less than it takes in.
  • It protects free speech, even speech it dislikes.
  • It does not need your permission slips, passes or digital tracking to let you work, travel or buy food.
  • It can be voted out, and local government has real power.
  • It leaves your money alone: sound currency, fair taxes.
  • It respects the Charter and Constitution, with courts that apply them rather than bend them.

The Living Systems Story

The best government is that which governs least, because its people govern themselves.
